Our idyllic restaurant is one of the most beautiful in the region.
Monastery Shop
In our monastery shop you will find the complete range of products from our own farm. We put great emphasis on the natural cultivation of primary products and their gentle processing and refinement. Many of our products can be ordered online.
Farming
Comprising 66 ha of farming land, 32 ha of forest, and a mountain pasture in Toggenburg where the cattle is taken for summer grazing, our farm is one of the largest in the canton of Thurgau. These are perfect conditions for continuing the traditional monastic value of self-sufficiency in a contemporary way. Agricultural diversity as a guiding principle, our land is divided into 25 ha of open farm land, 29 ha of meadows and pastures, 8 ha of vineyards and 2 ha of hops.
Sheltered Work and Accommodation
Kartause Ittingen’s residential home and sheltered workshop offers living and working facilities to people with mental illnesses and disabilities. Compared to other social institutions, Kartause Ittingen’s environment is different inasmuch as it offers residents the opportunity to come in contact with the restaurant and hotel guest as well as staff members naturally and informally. Living and working here is a unique experience.
Ittingen Museum and Thurgau Art Museum
Ittingen Museum and Thurgau Art Museum have been part of Kartause Ittingen since 1983, with Ittingen Museum being at the former monastery’s core. It focuses on local history and the characteristics of the Cartusian order. As a highly topical counterpart to the historical buildings, Thurgau Art Museum offers not only an outstanding albeit small collection but also attractive temporary exhibitions.
tecum
Tecum is an independent institution of ecclesiastical adult education supported by the Evangelical Regional Church of the Canton of Thurgau and the association tecum.
Concerts
In 2019 Kartause Ittingen’s Whitsun concerts – an international festival of top ranking chamber music – took place for the 25th time. French-German cellist Nicolas Altstaedt was it's artistic director.
A further opportunity to experience top-class chamber music are the Ittingen Sunday concerts, with five concerts performed in the winter term and presenting first-rate soloists and ensembles. Kartause Ittingen's concert hall ‘Remise’ meets the highest acoustic standards.
